Copy Houdini data to clipboard.

Copy Houdini data to clipboard.

I have something wrong with my working scenes and I had to move the data from them to the newly created. Houdini provides rare ability to copy all of his data to own clipboard, but it turned out that there is data that is difficult to transfer, actually I'm talking about Bundles, I often use.

The solution found through a simple module for python – pyperclip (https://pypi.python.org/pypi/pyperclip/).

Rea all Bundles (with content) from one houdini session and inserted into another.

A many interesting solution could be made with this module.

War Thunder cinematic and Houdini Clouds.

War Thunder cinematic and Houdini Clouds.

War Thunder game cinematic released, we worked on it lately. I want to share the video and tell what I did in it. In search of new and interesting work, we came to the Gaijin Entertainment company (one of the leaders in online games) with a proposal to collaborate. We proposed to make a movie different from most other cinematics for the games, with live actors and sets..

This has become a serious challenge for the whole team, as. our core competence is only Post Production and had little to do with the real film industry, but we decided to take a chance. Production Studio "Film UA" helped us, they helped to hold the actor casting and provided us with resources to implement ideas. Based on experience, obtained during onset visual effects supervising and detailed preparation with all team, we did the job. Just a month of preparation, few days of shooting and we obtained all necessary materials and the studio began work.

Export camera from Houdini to Nuke using EXR

Export camera from Houdini to Nuke using EXR

It has always been a big problem to move the camera from Houdini to Nuke. All attempts to use the fbx, for some reason, always lead to failure, flipping axes coordinate directions and the wrong animation.

I've seen a lot of scripts export camera from Maya, Blender etc., but I work in Houdini and decide to make a handy tool for this.

The main impetus for me was the opening of opportunities for data storage in exr files. Exr is major image format I'm working with. I thought, when rendering the picture for the composite immediately with information about the camera, and read it in Nuke. This eliminates problems with mismatched versions of the camera and render, as. each frame will be up-to-date information on, which camera was calculated from.
